What do I need to know before using this workbook?
Basic knowledge of Excel and Numbers is always helpful when navigating the workbooks, however it is certainly not a necessary skill. I have locked all cells and formulas that do not need to be changed. It wouldn’t be very easy for someone to make a mistake and overwrite an important cell. The cells you have control to edit are highlighted in blue and yellow. And, the best part of all, the math is done for you! You just need to put in your numbers and see what it gives you.
What software do I need?
I put this together on my 2008 version of Office for Mac. This will work on any Microsoft Office version 2008 or higher. The Excel versions will not work if you try to open them on a mobile device or tablet. If you are looking for that functionality, consider purchasing the Numbers versions. If there are any compatibility issues with wording or numerical cells being cut off or issues with opening the workbooks, please contact me.
The Numbers versions should work on any Mac, iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad where Numbers is installed!
Who is this workbook for?
This is for all photographers! Obviously, photographers just starting out will benefit greatly from this workbook. However established and seasoned photographers can use this each year to manage changes in their pricing, expenses, products, packages, and how it impacts their profit.
Will this help me figure out how to price my business?
There is a lot of different information out there on how to price your photography business. This workbook is a way to make it easier and simpler. It’s not going to tell you what the right way is for your business. What it will show you is whether or not you make a profit based on your estimated session fee/minimum in relationship to your expenses. If you are not making enough, you have the control to easily play with your inputs to find a solution that will work for you and your business.
If I don’t like the workbook, do you offer a money back guarantee?
Yes! You have 14 days to try out the pricing workbook. If it isn’t what you are looking for or doesn’t tell you what you need for your business, you can get a full refund!
Everything looks so huge. How do I get it smaller and easier to see on my screen?
Find the “Zoom” settings on Excel and adjust it to your liking (typically under the “View” menu). As a default, the workbook is set to 100%, however on smaller screens, like laptops, you may need to adjust the zoom settings.
Why can I edit some cells and not others? Why can’t I make my own edits?
I have protected most of the cells and left the other cells unprotected for a few reasons. First of all, it’s not a workbook that can be “broken” very easily. I’ve made it as user-friendly and straight-forward as possible. In order to accomplish this, the workbook needs to be locked and protected, leaving the only the unprotected cells for the user to edit.
Why can’t I insert in more rows for products, expenses, and packages?
Given the complexities of the formulas in the workbook, it would be too risky to let the user add in those rows on their own. I have added in ample spaces to put in your own products, expenses, and packages. However, if you ran out of rows in any of those categories, please email me at info@photo-dream-house.com, and I can add them in for you!
I’m totally confused. Can you help me?
Definitely. First of all, make sure you check out the walk-through videos for each of the workbooks.
